Growing Instructions
We Ship Only in the FallIf you are ordering Louisiana irises or daylilies, you probably already know how to grow them. I believe you could throw a Louisiana iris rhizome on the ground and if it comes into contact with dirt and gets a little water, it will grow. But a little additional care will be rewarded! Soak the Louisiana iris rhizomes overnight before planting. Plant them about one inch below the top of the soil. They love composed soil. Do not over-water them the first week or so. Once you see new growth appearing, keep them well watered. When the plant is established, you can not over-water them!
Louisiana irises like full sun and lots of water. You can plant them in ponds or marshy areas, and they will grow in two or three inches of water.
Daylilies like full sun. Plan them in July through October. Plant them about two feet apart. Keep the roots from drying out too much until planted and plant the crown (where the leaves and roots meet) about one inch deep. Mulch for at least the first year.
